SUSTAINABILITY
Our Commitment
From our sourcing and production processes to the people we work with along the supply chain and beyond, we are deeply committed in preserving a socially and environmentally sustainable model of business.

Zero Waste Philosophy
In our commitment to conscious craftsmanship, we do not mass-produce. Each piece is made to order, minimising overproduction. All metal remnants and most silk offcuts from the making process are recycled, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

In-House Production
Our products -with the occasional exception of some custom metal beads that we outsource to specialised local workshops- are crafted exclusively in our family workshop in Chania, Crete. In this way, we ensure the highest level of quality and longevity of our jewellery, we bear the responsibility of the welfare and fair remuneration of everyone involved in the production process, and we ensure that our production practices respect the environment as much as possible.

Natural Materials
For our jewellery we use exclusively precious and semi-precious natural metals, such as sterling silver, brass, gold-plated silver and brass, and solid gold. These are complemented with semi-precious and precious natural stones, pearls, glass beads and pure silk. Each KM creation is essentially a harmonious, vibrant blend of nature-derived materials that have been treasured for centuries, and continue to do so.

Supporting Artisans
A lot of our materials come from destinations around the world, mostly Africa. Katerina travels yearly to discover local artisans, such as those who make our recycled glass beads and chemical-free dyed silk. We go directly to them -no middle men!- to support their craft and check their production processes to monitor sustainability as much as possible. The less stages a supply chain has and the more personal the relationships are, the easier it is to have the highest level of supply chain transparency possible and be accountable for where your products come from.

Craftsmanship Preservation
We care deeply about the preservation of handmade jewellery making, using century old methods that require the human skill and talent. We believe in creating with our hands and getting fully immersed in the creation process. We take pride in slowly building a talented team that we train in-house to this form of applied art.
